Have many snowmen emigrated? I am sure that there were more
of them on the 50s and the 60s. A good fall of snow and it seemed that in every
other garden a snowman would appear. Of course, children in those days did not
have all the electronic gadgets and unsocial media that they now have. I
remember a friend of mine and I quietly building a rather large snowman in the
garden of a house which was on the outside corner of a road junction on a bus route;
it wasn’t our garden and it was built after midnight but it stood there proudly
for quite a few days bringing smiles to the passing bus passengers.
Those of us who remember how things were 50 years or more ago should take the time to make their memories available to younger people. A world without the internet, without on screen games and where direct face to face conversation substituted for texts, emails and so called social media - was it better? Was it worse? Whichever, it was certainly different. PLEASE do add comments - thank you. Search this blog using the search box at the bottom or choose a topic from the labels on the right.
