Size matters. Shoe sizes.

It seems that feet stop growing in the teens, so growth cannot be the explanation for increasing shoe size; when I was a teenager, in the 50s and 60s, my UK shoe size was 7 and a half or 8. Now, a 'few' years later, my usual size is 10 and sometimes 11. Have my feet grown? It seems improbable. Any suggestions?
