Socialising and conversation

 I am old - more than 4 score years - and I remember when people met, talked and interacted;  now, whenever I go anywhere where people used to talk, I see mainly self absorbed people looking at their smartphones;  I have often seen a dining table with, say, 4 people, and not one is talking to anyone else, preferring to look at whatever they look at;  worse, it is not unusual to see a parent pushing a pram or pushchair looking at their smartphone in preference to talking with their child.
