In the fifties and the sixties, carol singers abounded. They sang at the front door, on the street, outside shops, on street corners under lamp posts, in the high street and even in pubs - all over the place; in pairs, by themselves, in groups, on behalf of the Church, on behalf of themselves. An essential part of Christmas.
Where are they all? I have not seen any this year (other than in a Church or on television). Society and community is diminished by the loss of them.
