Water

Maybe I didn't move in the right circles but I don't think that there was any bottled water for sale in the 50s. I have a feeling that if anyone had suggested it, they would have been thought to be mad. Funny how we have now all been trained to pay for bottled water which I doubt is any better or cleaner than the stuff that comes out of the tap - how much additional waste is caused by the bottles it comes in, how much extra fuel delivering it!
