Those of us who remember how things were 50 years or more ago should take the time to make their memories available to younger people. A world without the internet, without on screen games and where direct face to face conversation substituted for texts, emails and so called social media - was it better? Was it worse? Whichever, it was certainly different. PLEASE do add comments - thank you. Search this blog using the search box at the bottom or choose a topic from the labels on the right.

Social Media
Social media and communication in the 50s and 60s. Easy to say what it was not - it wasn't Facebook or tweets or emails or Skype or smart or mobile phone; in many cases, it was not even phone as your house might not have one or, if it had, your parents would not allow its use. There was a lot of face to face conversation and meeting and playing (not virtual playing, actual playing). In order to set up something, one would need to agree the next meeting with people at the time or, with children, the method was often walking along to a friend's house, knocking on the door and asking if friend could come out to play. Very different and, for all the wonderful things that communications now allow, I think it was better!
