6th form and A levels

In the 50s and, I think, most of the 60s, people did their A Levels in the same school as they had done their O levels. The exception to that was if their O level school was not a grammar school, in which case they had to change schools.  There were no separate A level colleges - just schools.  Uniform still had to be worn although, in some cases, concessions were made to allow the 6th formers a little more choice in how they used their time - to study!
